All About JEE Advanced Conducted On June 4th, 2023
JEE Advanced is the topmost exam for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in IITs and many other tier-1 colleges in India. You can check JEE Advanced 2023 date, exam pattern, syllabus, and other JEE Advanced 2023 exam updates.
On June 4, 2023, IIT Guwahati has conducted the JEE Advanced 2023. Like other years, this year also, JEE Advanced 2023 was conducted in 2 shifts, from 9 am to 12 pm (paper 1) and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (paper 2).
The students who were in the top 2.5 lakh students qualified in JEE Main 2023 were eligible for JEE Advanced 2023.
How Was The Exam Pattern: JEE Advanced 2023 Exam Pattern
Each question paper was of 180 marks consisting of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics covering an equal portion of marks. Talking about the type of questions, there were 4 sections in each subject. For Paper-1, the JEE Advanced 2023 Pattern analysis is as follows:
Section -1 carried 12 marks (3 questions of 4 marks) and one or more than one option could be correct. This section had a partial marking system.
- Full marks: +4 If you have chosen ALL the correct options only.
- Partial Marks: +3 If you chose 3 options but ALL four options are correct.
- Partial Marks: +2 If you chose 2 options but three or more options are correct.
- Partial Marks: +1 If you chose just ONE option but three or more options are correct.
- Zero Marks: 0 If you did not choose any option
- Negative Marks: -2 In any other case (if any wrong option is chosen irrespective of whether any correct option was chosen or not)
Section – 2 carried 12 marks (4 questions of 3 marks) with ONLY ONE CORRECT OPTION.
- Full marks: +3 If you have chosen the correct option
- Zero mark: 0 if you have not chosen any option
- -1: -1 if you have chosen any option other than the correct one
Section-3 of IIT-JEE Advanced 2023 had numeric integer-based questions with answers being non-negative integers. Students should manually enter the answer integer by clicking on the numbers given on the digital numeric pad under the question itself. This section carried 24 marks (6 questions of 4 marks). Any negative marking system was not there in this section.
- Full marks: +4 if the answer you chose is right
- Zero marks: 0 in any other case
Section-4 had list-matching type questions based on two lists List-A and List-B. List-A had 4 options which should be matched with the other list having 5 options in it. Here, a total of 4 questions were there and multiple or single options could be correct.
- Full marks: +3 if your chosen answer is correct
- Zero marks: 0 if the candidate has not chosen any of the given options
- Negative marks: -1 in any other case
Paper-2 also was similar but there was no question with single option correct-type and matching list type question. Instead, there was a numerical value-type section where the answer could be in decimal, or negative also.
Paper Difficulty Level
As per our senior faculties at Matrix IIT JEE Academy, Sikar, both the question papers were at a moderate difficulty level.
Physics was the most balanced section and questions were designed by miking up multiple basic concepts.
Fundamental chapters like Kinematics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Capacitors, Mechanics, Optics, and Thermodynamics covered more weightage than chapters like Modern Physics.
Chemistry, this year was not like we got to see in other years. Some Inorganic Chemistry questions from the NCERT were directly asked in paper 1.
Organic chemistry had the most weightage here. Multiple concept-based questions were asked in this section. Amines, Alcohol, Phenol, Ether, and Aromatic compounds were the major topics.
In physical chemistry, questions were mostly from Chemical Kinetics, Ionic Equilibrium, Redox reactions, and Thermodynamics.
Mathematics was the most challenging and the Conic section, Permutation & Combination, Matrices, and Probability covered a major portion. Whereas, the questions from Vector & 3D Geometry, Parabola, and Complex Numbers were tricky as well as lengthy.
Paper-2 also followed a similar pattern but here they had raised the difficulty level of Physics a bit and Mathematics was the most difficult.
Student Response: What Did Students Say About The Paper?
Most of the students found the question paper at a difficult level.
According to the students, Maths was the most challenging, Chemistry was medium, and Physics was easy. Physics and Chemistry both were easier than those in JEE Advanced 2022.
A student who studied through the advanced learning technologies at Matrix JEE academy told that for those who have prepared well and solved the modules sincerely, the paper was from medium to hard.
A few questions were a mixture of questions discussed in class. Many questions in Physics were from Electrostatics.
Another student said that Paper-2 was difficult compared to Paper-1. However, Mathematics was difficult and tricky in both papers.
Mathematics had questions majorly from 12th-class topics like- Vector & 3D, Parabola, etc. While Inorganic & Physical Chemistry had a major portion from 11th class-based topics.
How Matrix Helped Students Prepare for JEE Advanced 2023: Words From The Students of Matrix
Matrix IIT-JEE Academy has been one of the pioneer institutes in Sikar for IIT-JEE preparation and our results and selection percentage justify it.
In JEE Advanced 2022, 434+ students of Matrix qualified JEE Advanced, and the top 2 JEE Advanced qualifying students in Sikar were from Matrix itself.
The reason behind the high selection percentage is nothing but the way of teaching and the study material we design and optimize at Matrix IIT-JEE Academy.
According to most of the students who appeared in JEE Advanced 2023 today, many questions were pretty similar to the questions discussed in class notes and Achievers Question Bank.
Moreover, most of those who sincerely took our JEE Advanced Cup Test Series are expecting a score of 130+.
Our senior faculties have designed the JEE Advanced Cup series in such a way that it includes similar questions as asked in the real exam and puts light on almost every topic in the syllabus.
It gives the students a feel of real competition as it shows their All India Rank in each test. So, this test series has become very helpful in improving the performance of students.
Our Achievers Question Bank consists of many unique questions with a higher difficulty level compared to the routine questions of JEE Advanced. These are mostly the questions that most of the candidates fail to solve in the exam.
So, solving this question bank after JEE Advanced Cup Test Series helps our students in boosting their scores. Our students, in 2022, followed the same strategy and achieved good ranks in JEE Advanced 2022.
This year also, we believe that there will be a huge number of selections from Matrix IIT-JEE Academy.
