Hence, it becomes crucial to understand the procedure of JoSAA Counselling 2023 as JoSAA conducts the admission process for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and many prestigious central government-funded engineering colleges for undergraduate programs.
So, to help students, Matrix IIT-JEE Academy, Sikar has come up with the 2023 JoSAA counselling schedule and the necessary rules. Here we will inform you about the expected JoSAA 2023 Schedule, eligibility criteria, options for seat allotment, and other necessary information.
What Is JoSAA Counselling – Which Colleges Are Participating In JoSAA Counselling 2023?
Some years back, different counsellings for IITs and NITs used to happen. Because of that, many seats used to be left vacant as the student who got a seat in an IIT and an NIT, used to prefer IIT over NIT.
To avoid this, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has come up with combined counselling, where they have included all the IITs, GFTIs, NITs, and IIITs.

What Are Freeze, Float and Slide Options In JoSAA Counselling
Whenever students fill in their college choices, they get three options – freeze, float, and slide. These need to be filled out carefully to avoid later confusion.
1. Freeze
If a candidate has chosen the freeze option, he can either take admission to that seat or can withdraw his seat and leave the JoSAA counselling.
2. Float
If the candidate gets a seat from a higher choice by choosing float in any further round, then it’s fine. Otherwise, the candidate will be allocated the same seat as before.
3. Slide
By choosing a slide, in any further round, the candidate gets a seat from a higher choice but the same institute, or he will be allocated the same seat as before.
