NEET UG 2025

NTA has been conducting the NEET examination since 2019 and is one of the most significant exams in the country. Every year millions of students appear in the examination turning their dream of becoming a doctor into a reality.

Owing to its seriousness and opportunities it holds the examination is conducted with fairness. Moreover, NTA has recently made a few changes to the NEET 2025 exam.

We’ll discuss all these changes in this blog and include the extension of the pen and paper model in exams and the APAAR ID linked with Aadhaar. The proposed changes are part of attempts to improve the efficiency of the examination system and to provide equal opportunity for every candidate.

Exam Format for NEET-UG 2025

This year the NTA is all set to conduct the NEET-UG 2025 in pen-paper mode only as per the decision of the association. Thus, after the consultations between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, the authorities decided that this format would be more appropriate for the candidates and the scale of the examination.

Moreover, NEET-UG is the biggest examination in India given the total number of aspirants. The persistence of the offline mode remains beneficial for students from different socio-economic and technological environments and helps to make the process as accessible as possible.

Why Pen-and-Paper Format?

Earlier, there were reports that NTA may go for a CBT to avoid problems like leakages of papers; however, retaining the conventional offline style indicates the problems connected with conducting an exam on such a scale via the internet. This format involves only one day and one shift making it easy to conduct the exam and compare results for all the aspiring candidates.

Introduction of APAAR ID and Aadhaar Integration

Another change that the NTA made is the introduction of the APAAR ID for NEET-UG 2025 as a way of unlocking the application and examination advancements. This is integrated with Aadhaar for better operations and to include layers of security features affectionate to it.

  • What is an APAAR ID?
  • APAAR stands for Automatic Permanent Academic Account Registry. This ID is a single identifier given to all the candidates, helping them combine all their academic references, and make the examination process smooth.

Benefits of Linking APAAR ID with Aadhaar

  1. Simplified Application Process
  • With Adhaar’s biometric data, the hand input during registration is reduced thereby minimizing errors.
  1. Enhanced Examination Efficiency
  • With facial recognition the efficiency and speed of the exam center during the examination is improved.
  1. Improved Candidate Security
  • This ensures transparency and minimizes errors, promoting fairness for all aspirants.

Steps for Candidates

To ensure a smooth application process, candidates must take the following steps:

  1. Update Aadhaar Details:
    • Keep all the details updated and correct.
    • If wrong, visit the official website and update the details.
  2. Link Aadhaar with a Valid Mobile Number:
    • Link your mobile number to the Adhaar which is essential for OTP-based authentication.
  3. Facial Recognition Update:
    • Update your facial recognition data at an Aadhaar update center. This step will benefit the verification when you sit for the exam.
  4. Utilize APAAR ID:
    • When registering, use the APAAR ID, through which all the academic records will be connected to your NEET application.

However, to access the APAAR ID you’ll have to access Digilocker. If you already have an ID it’s good and if not then you’ll have to create one.
