JEE Mains 2025 Session-1 Paper Analysis

JEE Mains 2025 Session-1 Paper Analysis: 22 Jan Shift 1 & Shift 2 Difficulty & Insights

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE), First Session 2025 (JEE) has started and it’s time for a thorough analysis.

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducting the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) – 2025 Session I exam is scheduled to be held on 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30 January 2022, @ 284 centres across the nation and 15 cities in 13 countries.

And today many students have appeared in the JEE mains examination and have locked their future on an OMR sheet. And here in this blog, we’ll take a closer look at what the students have to say about the paper and its difficulty level.

We’ll also take a look if there are any pattern changes. This analysis will help students in their preparation journey and perform better.

Overall Difficulty Level

The JEE Mains 2025 Session 1 Shift 1 paper is overall considered to be moderately difficult. The distribution of subjects in the paper was fairly balanced however some parts of the paper were very mathematical and required a higher calculation. The paper was a bit tougher than the past years but not by a lot — especially for the majority of students.

Questions in the Physics section were moderately difficult, while Chemistry was relatively easier, a relief for students who couldn’t crack other sections.

Subject-wise Analysis

Mathematics: Easy to Moderate

Mathematics in Shift 1 was moderately difficult to difficult. The paper was fairly long and required a few calculations. Topics were no surprise but the problems were quite difficult and took too much time. While conceptly the paper was moderate but, the paper was fairly long. The problems were time-consuming because they could involve several steps of (superficial) calculations, but were at an understandable level of difficulty. Also, students had to apply their understanding across a wide range of topics such as statistics, probability, vectors, and matrices.

Topics Covered: Statistics, Probability, Vector and 3D, Matrices and Determinants

Physics: Moderate

The Physics section was considered moderately difficult. It was not because of complicated questions or overly difficult but had a few questions that you had to think analytically. Those students who could apply formulas correctly and have good problem-solving skills could easily float through this section.

Topics Covered: Thermal, Projectile Motion, Circuits, Diodes, EM Waves, Modern Physics, etc

Chemistry: Easy to Moderate

This shift’s chemistry part was relatively easier than the other two subjects. Many students found it manageable, and the paper was straightforward. Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry were equally distributed in this section.

Topics Covered: Mole Concepts, Catalysts, Biomolecules Organic and Physical Chemistry

JEE Mains January 2025 Session 1 Shift-2 Paper Analysis

NTA conducted the JEE Main 2025 January 22 Shift-2 exam from 3 PM to 6 PM. According to students’ reactions, the overall difficulty level of this shift ranged from moderate to tough. Here’s a detailed subject-wise analysis:

Mathematics: Difficult

Mathematics in Shift 2 was the most challenging section, as reported by students. The paper was time-intensive, with questions requiring multiple steps and detailed calculations. Topics like hyperbola, ellipse, arithmetic progression (AP), conic sections, complex numbers, area under the curve, matrices, and sequences and series dominated the section. Students needed a strong conceptual foundation and excellent time management skills to navigate this part successfully.

Topics Covered: Hyperbola, Ellipse, AP, Conic section, Complex numbers, Area under the curve, Matrices, Sequence, and Series

Physics: Easy to Moderate

Physics was considered relatively easier compared to mathematics, but it still required a good understanding of fundamental concepts and analytical skills. Questions were focused on important topics such as lens, logic gates, ray optics, electrostatics, semiconductors, and projectile motion. While most questions were straightforward, some required deeper problem-solving skills, adding to the overall difficulty.

Topics Covered: Lens, logic gate, Ray optic, electrostatic, semiconductor, projectile motion, units and dimensions, kinematics, Fluid, Gravitation

Chemistry: Easy

Chemistry offered a welcome respite for students, being the easiest section of the three. The questions were direct and based on standard concepts. Organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry topics were equally distributed, with a focus on commonly studied areas like dipole moment, electrochemistry, and chemical bonding. This section provided an opportunity for students to secure marks with less time investment.

Topics Covered: Dipole moment, Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Chemical bonding, Coordination compound, Ionic Equilibrium, P Block, Thermodynamics

Conclusion

JEE Mains 2025 Session-1 Shift 1 paper can be safely categorized as easy to moderate with some surprises in the Mathematics section. For those who have a good grasp of core concepts, and effective time management skills – it would be manageable. Chemistry was a breather, but Physics was a very strenuous discipline with terms and basic knowledge.

Students who will be taking the shifts ahead should practice time management, review important topics, and perfect problem-solving skills. Take it from this batch of students, every shift has its own set of problems, but if you have the proper plan, success is inevitable!
