Will NEET aspirants also get two chances the same way JEE aspirants get? As JEE exams happen two times a year. The Government has replied on this question and recently has said that NEET UG Will not be conducted twice a year as of now and there is no proposal to give two chances to aspirants for writing NEET exams.
NEET-UG only once every year
The National Testing Agency (NTA) and National Medical Commission (NMC) have clarified that the medical entrance exam for undergraduate Admission won’t be organized on the pattern of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) of keeping it two times annually.
The Union Government says NEET UG exam will only be happening once a year. Like it has been getting organized every year. No change is announced.
Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare responded to a question in the Lok Sabha. And said that NEET UG is the only entrance exam for admission to MBBS courses in India. And Section 14 of NMC Act 2019 mandates it as a single test for entry into all best medical colleges across India. Therefore, it has already lessened the stress on medical aspirants of appearing in multiple exams for medical admission.
NEET is an exam that accurately assesses students’ abilities. And grants Admission as per their performance in the test thereby promoting meritocracy. It has been successful in limiting all wrongdoings in the allotment of medical seats. Hence, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is ensuring more transparency in the medical admission procedure, the minister added.
Meanwhile, it is also clear by UGC Chairman’s latest statement that there is no plan to merge CUET with JEE and NEET. And if any merger happens, its announcement will be out at least two years prior. So no aspirant will suffer and can prepare accordingly.
