Satyam belongs to a small village named Bakhorapur in the Bhojpur district of Bihar. Although he was brilliant from the beginning, his studies were going on as usual. It took a turn when his father sent him to Kota for the IIT-JEE preparation at a close one’s suggestion.
He cracked the IIT-JEE exam 2012 with a rank of AIR 8137 on his first attempt, but he did not stop there and appeared for the IIT-JEE 2013 exam. This year, he improved his rank by a great margin, secured an AIR 670, and became the youngest Indian to achieve this feat, with a score of 292 out of 360.
Meanwhile, he also broke the record of Sahal Kaushik, who became the youngest IITian at the age of 14 in 2010.
After clearing the IIT-JEE 2013 exam with a remarkable rank and becoming the youngest IITian at 13, he got admission to the dual degree program (B.Tech. + M.Tech.) in Electrical Engineering at the IIT Kanpur.

After completing his dual degree from IIT Kanpur, Satyam got offers from various tech giants like- Amazon and Microsoft and internship offers from Facebook, Google, and Apple. Among these many offers, he chose Apple and did a Machine Learning internship there for three months in Switzerland.
Nowadays, as per his LinkedIn profile, the youngest IITian, Satyam Kumar, is doing a PhD in brain computer at the University of Texas, Austin. His PhD is likely to be completed in 2024.

Apart from his academics, Satyam worked on various projects related to Machine Learning and Robotics during his dual degree program.
